Asian Arts and Crafts, a division of alloja.com, has very graciously agreed to let us use their web site. We are offering pictures by an Iranian artist in exile. By accessing the pictures themselves, the first item you will see is a poster of the artist mentioning some of her accomplishments. It can be noted that one was a portrait of the late Shah and his Queen. The significance of this seems to have escaped the attention of the hard-line officials currently in power until just a few years ago. At about the same time one of her daughters visited the home of a western couple who held private Christian services in their home. The result was excessive pressure and threats. Eventually the artist and her two children succeeded in leaving Iran, and have been living in exile ever since. Living in exile has meant living in poverty and on charity. The health of the two daughters can currently be said to be good. However the artist herself had been beaten up, and her health even now is not good. They currently receive some assistance from a Christian Missionary group in a third world nation. Funds are needed for school expenses for the children, plus living expenses, plus medical care. As for any pictures sold, after normal deductions for sales commissions, bank charges, shipping, etc., monies received will go directly to the family for their welfare. Following a period of abuse and enforced poverty, the artist completed these pictures during a period of illness with art supplies donated from various sources. In as much as this is a private humanitarian project, it is stipulated that all sales are final. No returns; no refunds. Once a sale has been confirmed it will be noted as quickly as possible on the web site. First come, first served. To all buyers, we extend our thanks from a needy family.
